Here We Go Again Soddy Daisy
Histrion: Kelsey Nunley
Because of a cut suffered on the center finger of her pitching hand, Nunley was unable to compete in the winners-bracket final and championship game when Soddy-Daisy won the TSSAA Grade AAA softball state title. However, her standout performances throughout the year and postseason to that indicate were key components in the Lady Trojans' success. The sophomore correct-hander, who routinely pitched against Soddy-Daisy's tougher opponents, finished with a 29-1 pitching record with 17 shutouts and an ERA of 0.twoscore. In 1761/3 innings pitched, she had 237 strikeouts while allowing 72 hits and 29 walks. "With the pitching safe moved back 3 feet, we had to do everything all over once again," Soddy-Daisy coach Clifford Kirk said. "We had to work differently on moving the ball. Nosotros got more than movement, but she still maintained about the same speed. Her ERA was real good, especially when you consider throwing from 43 feet."
Coach: Clifford Kirk
Kirk'due south TSSAA Class AAA land-title team was his seventh at Soddy-Daisy and 9th overall. Since first actualization in the ESPN Rise FAB 50 and afterward in the NFCA/USA Today Top 25, Soddy-Daisy (52-2) steadily rose in both national polls and appears destined to finish in the top five in both. "This has actually been a good grouping," said Kirk, whose assistants are Lamar Lasley and Wes Skiles. "They all seemed eager to come to practice. They worked hard, so we didn't take to work as long and we got out. I knew with what we had coming back that this was going to exist a good team. I didn't know nosotros were going to be this good. I may have had better players hither and at that place, but top to bottom this could be the best team I've had."
